Circuit Riders, LLC is a business website design, analysis, and consulting company owned and operated by Don and Mary Ecsedy. We originally started the business in 2003, when we were living in Moab, Utah (it's a long story). We moved back to Pittsburgh, PA in January 2008. We are located in Greenfield, next to beautiful Schenley Park.

Mary Ecsedy, Managing Partner

Mary is the company's Managing Partner and project manager. She is an information specialist with over 16 years of complete life cycle software development in a wide variety of industries. Her experience includes library science, technical writing, business and systems analysis and design, website development, and business website analysis and consulting.

A strong narrative writer, Mary has written and illustrated numerous website content articles on a broad range of topics as an essential strategy of organic search engine optimization ("SEO") and marketing. She specializes in using SEO and website analytics data for business intelligence, helping clients to increase revenue, cut costs, and reduce risk by integrating their website with their business.

Mary teaches SEO and website business analysis workshops to individual clients, professional organizations and large corporations. Last fall (2009), she was invited as a guest lecturer to give a talk on SEO at Carnegie Mellon University. (Click HERE to see her presentation.)

Don Ecsedy, Continuity

Don's main role is Continuity. He is also our system administrator and graphics expert. He has over 15 years of experience in the financial services industry as an information storage and retrieval specialist responsible for the conversion of paper records and proprietary databases for online access on corporate intranets. He is an online research expert, and a skilled photographer.

We are both former law librarians, which is a profession renowned for its attention to accuracy, usablity, and availability of complex information.

We first met on Usenet in 1994, in the last days of the Internet before the World Wide Web. Mary was a cataloger at the University of Colorado Libraries in Boulder, and Don was the law librarian for the Legal Affairs department at Mellon Bank. No longer 1500 miles apart, we now work in adjoining offices - but we still communicate in IRC with the rest of our website project team during the workday.

Core Expertise

Circuit Riders' core expertise is a unique blend of information design, library science, complete life-cycle software development, documentation and training, and anthropology. As former librarians and technical writers we specialize in organic search engine optimization and marketing, especially narrative content writing.

We Employ a Phased Project Approach

The basic method we employ on all of our projects is to work in rational phases, beginning with a solid foundation that will support your business over time.

Whether your project entails business research and analysis or web-based technical development, each project phase produces a complete and usable result. We seldom ask clients to commit to more than one phase at a time, further reducing overall project risk for our clients and for ourselves. Each project can stand on its own, but it can also become the starting point for the next phase when needed. This is how we develop increasing complexity in manageable steps. Our method ensures that your project is fully integrated with your business goals, workflow processes, schedules – and most important: your budget.

A Unique Mission Statement

We bridge the gap between technology and the people who use it. We do not use our technical expertise to take adavantage of our clients. Instead, we practice a business ethic of educating our clients as much as possible. We always clearly explain what we are doing and why, in language tailored to our clients' technical skill level. This sets us apart from the vast majority of the competition. In fact, when we told the Better Business Bureau rep that this is what sets us apart, he said that in all the years he's been working for the Bureau, he had never had a website development or marketing company tell him that. "Wow! You really ARE unique!", he said.
